I have to give Henry Fonda credit for a line from the movie 'How the west was won' when he was asked if he would stick around he said...'It dosen't matter how many treaties you make...people will just keep coming, I'm heading for the High and Lonesome'....great line, great movie!

The High and Lonesome
John Kenney © 2012
When it's just a bit of peace I find I sorely need
When all my frantic grumblings just need to go away
My roaming days are over now its time to step on back
Reckon I'll just pack and go along my way
Both my heart and my mind, need a place outside of time
I'm beginning to recall what I believe
Now the days I have lost when my wires got so crossed
Only make it sweeter when I get to see
And it's called the High and Lonesome
Standing with the clouds that reach out to the shining sea
And it's called the High and Lonesome
I want to hear that song a singin through the trees
And it's called the High and Lonesome
Standing with the clouds that reach out to the shining sea
And it's called the High and Lonesome
I want to hear that song a singin through the trees
If it's love that I want then its love I must give
No matter where this journey might take me
Since no one knows it all I'll just try to do my best
To square up with the man I want to be
And it's called the High and Lonesome
Standing with the clouds that reach out to the shining sea
And it's called the High and Lonesome
I want to hear that song a singin through the trees
