Edmond Ramsey songs
TEARS LIKE A RIVER FLOW
(Copyright 2005 - E.Ramsey/K.Ragans)
Arrangement: Tracy Collins
Vocals: Norman Lee
I was so fortunate to be able to meet Edmond, and his brother Greg, at Tin Pan South in Nashville. On their way back to California, they went through Oklahoma City to see the site of the bombing... Edmond and Greg were so touched they could hardly speak, and Edmond was inspired to write about what he felt, as he stood at the Memorial. This song is a result of those emotions, and a tribute to those families who lost loved ones so tragically... We hope you'll be touched by it as well...
REMEMBER OKLAHOMA CITY
APRIL NINETEEN-NINETY FIVE
A BLUE CRYSTAL MORNING
THE SUN WAS WARM AND BRIGHT
WHEN SUDDENLY THE LIGHT OF DAY
TURNED INTO DARKEST NIGHT
NOW I STAND AT THIS MEMORIAL
ASKING WHY
CHORUS
AND TEARS… LIKE A RIVER FLOW
AS I SEARCH FOR UNDERSTANDING
DEEP WITHIN MY SOUL
I SEE THE FACES OF THE CHILDREN
WITH THEIR STORIES LEFT UNTOLD
AND TEARS… LIKE A RIVER FLOW
THE WRITING ON THE WALL
READS “JUSTICE… GOD DEMANDS IT”
I SEE ROWS OF EMPTY CHAIRS
SOME ARE BIG, SOME ARE SMALL
TEDDY BEARS AND PHOTOGRAPHS
LINE A FENCE ALONG THE SIDEWALK
THE SURVIVOR TREE IS STANDING
IN THE MIDST OF IT ALL
REPEAT CHORUS
BRIDGE:
IT’S SAID IF WE FORGET THE PAST
WE’RE DESTINED TO REPEAT IT
SOMETIMES IT’S REALLY TOUGH TO FACE THE FACTS
BUT IF THAT'S WHAT IT TAKES
FOR EVIL TO BE DEFEATED
THEN BY THE GRACE OF GOD
I’LL KEEP ON LOOKING BACK
WHERE TEARS LIKE A RIVER FLOW
(REPEAT CHORUS)
