John turned to his music to "sort through" his emotions and I enjoyed watching his thoughts pour onto the paper. We often had to focus on common phrasing because there was an "American" way of saying things and a "Scotch-Irish" way of speaking.
In this cut you can hear him trying to sing "some things are a matter of fate".
Of course, that was my creative "American" line and he simply could not make sense of it in his brain. I smile now, as I listen, because I remember the day we "argued" over how to word this. When he recorded it, he simply said it "JOHN'S WAY."
Sorry, dear friend.......but now, I can post the lyrics as you sing...and they are written "PEG'S WAY".

There's so many words I wanted to say
And so many times you blew me away
Our future is out there and so plain to see
I played it safe from the start
the love that we share can be honest and true
it's love coming straight from my heart
chorus:
I hear you only dismiss it with words
but the fire here that burns deep inside feels great when it burns
Some things are matters of faith for me and you
don't tell me we're through
Girl it's over to you
Is there a chance that someday you and me
can take this right back to the start
And is it too late to repair what went wrong
or watch as it all comes apart?
chorus
I hear you only dismiss it with words
but the fire here that burns deep inside feels great when it burns
Some things are matters of faith for me and you
don't tell me we're through
Girl it's over to you
it's over to you
Girl it's over to you
It's only a matter of fate...
if it's over to you......
Something..something...something
all that matters....all that matters.
