I found an old poem I wrote years ago that began with this line.......A romantic would call it ‘giving up’ - a sci-fi buff might call it ‘stasis’- a fatalist call it ‘the end’ - I will simply call it ‘before’
.......call it what you wish - enjoy

You’ll never know

You'll never know how lonely I've become
Now I'm putting all the wondering aside
Hoping just to touch the face I need to love
But falling short every time I try
I had settled all the reasons for giving up the fight
Made my peace with living out my days
Every time I spoke my mind something went all wrong
So close the book and I’ll just walk away
You'll never know how lonely I've become
Time to rest I tried to make it right
Wishing I could find the heart that won't just walk away
But falling short and calling it a night
To talk about what happened, the blame and all the why's
Somehow just never helped me understand
Starting here, ending there all the in-betweens
Regrets are scattered everywhere I stand
You'll never know how lonely I've become
Now I'm putting all the wondering aside
Hoping just to touch the face I need to love
But falling short every time try
You'll never know - Just another ‘there you go’
You'll never know - Just another ‘there you go’
You'll never know - Just another ‘there you go’
