Eighteen wheels, fifteen gears and thousands o’ miles ahead

Chattenooga to Tucson and back…here I go again

I never look at the long haul, just points along the road

Milestones I picked out every hundred miles or so

First one’s that old hospital up past 109 

Big sign on the roof reads we deliver anytime

Then that red brick preschool I saw one openin’ day

A little girl cryin’… clingin’ to her daddy’s leg

Then the boarded up movie house kinda like stuck in time   

A Tree Grows In Brooklyn was still on the broken sign

Next it’ll be the Alumni Pub, stopped one day for lunch 

Saw a dad buy his son a beer day the kid turned twenty one

Last trip headin home from Tucson got a call from my wife

Tellin me our little son just walked for the very first time
